About Counselling

Counselling is a process by which you can talk openly about your problems in a safe, non-judgemental environment. It can be an opportunity to come to terms with the past and to acknowledge and begin to clear difficult feelings that may have been holding you back.

It can be a creative process in which - with my guidance and given time and space - you can connect with a deeper and more genuine part of you. I believe that we are not defined by the 'stories' that we have been told and tell about ourselves. Sometimes we need to tell our story to somebody not directly involved in our life, in order to move past and beyond the conditions that have blocked us from expressing our creative and truest self.

How can Counselling Help?

Counselling can be helpful in many different ways. It may be an opportunity to speak about things you haven't been able to with those closest to you. It is also an opportunity to 'hear' yourself in deeper ways and to acknowledge patterns in your life that may need changing if you are to achieve your highest potential. This is your journey and the way I work respects the fact that your life is like no-one else's. The solutions are within you but it often takes someone like me to help you to disentangle yourself from old thoughts and beliefs that may have been holding you back.

What Benefits can be Expected?

Simply talking to somebody not involved in your day to day life can help you to gain perspective on things that may have been crowding in on you. Many people report a sense of relief that they are not alone and a renewed sense of energy and hope in the way they see and approach their lives. This might mean moving on from feelings of anger, hurt and loss; or changing career or deepening and renewing close relationships. The possibilities are endless.
